How to answer delivery questions in Instagram DMs (examples)
By Ahmad, founder of PingMyLead
"Do you deliver to my area?", "How much is delivery?" and "When will it arrive?" come up again and again in shop DMs. Each one comes from a customer who is already thinking about the order. This guide shows how to answer delivery questions in Instagram DMs in one clear message, so the customer can say yes.
Write your delivery facts down once
Before you reply, decide the facts and write them in one place: the areas you cover, the cost for each area, how long delivery takes, and the days your courier works. Keep this list next to your price list. When the facts are written down, the answer is always the same, whether you reply or a helper does. If a cost changes, update the list the same day.
Give the area, cost and time in one message
A customer who asks about their area usually asks about the cost and the time next. Answer all three at once. For example:
"Yes, we deliver to [area]. Delivery costs [delivery cost] and takes [delivery time]. Would you like me to reserve the [item] for you?"
If you do not deliver to that area, say so kindly and offer what you can:
"Sorry, we do not deliver to [area] yet. We can send it with [courier] or you can pick it up from [pickup place]. Would that work for you?"
Be honest about the delivery time
Give a time you can keep, not your fastest day. A customer who waits an extra day without a word starts to lose trust. If there is a delay, for example a holiday or bad weather, tell the customer before they ask:
"Hi [name], a quick update: your order will arrive on [new day] because of [reason]. Thank you for waiting."
Put delivery info where customers look first
Many customers check your profile before they write. Add one short delivery line to your bio, for example "Delivery to [areas]. Order in DMs." On Instagram, you can also post a story with your delivery areas and costs and add it to your Story Highlights, so it stays on your profile. This does not replace your reply, but fewer customers have to wait for a basic answer.
