How to answer "price?" comments on Instagram and Facebook
By Ahmad, founder of PingMyLead
"Price?" under a post is one of the clearest buying signals you get. The customer likes the item and wants to know if it fits their budget. How you answer price comments decides if the chat continues.
Answer in public, then in private
First send the price and details in a private message. Then reply under the comment with a short, friendly line, for example "Hi! We sent you the details in a message 😊". Other customers see that you answer, and the customer gets the full details where you can talk. Only write "we sent you a message" after you really sent it.
If the customer does not follow you, your message can land in their message requests, so add "Check your message requests" to your public reply. Vary the wording a little from comment to comment.
Act fast: on Instagram, Meta lets a business send one private reply to a comment, and only within 7 days of the comment. After that, a public reply is your only option.
Put the full answer in the first message
Write the price, the delivery cost and area, and one question that moves the sale. A message with only the price often ends the chat.
Example: "Hi! This dress is [price]. Delivery to [area] is [delivery cost] and takes [time]. Which size would you like?"
Use your real prices only
Never guess a price. If the post shows more than one item, ask "Which one do you like, the first photo or the second?". If you are still not sure, ask for a screenshot.
Answer while the customer still cares
A customer who asks for a price is often close to deciding. Check your comments several times a day, or use alerts so you know when a ready customer waits. Answer late comments too, because other customers read them.
